TeacherMate Changes Teacher-Child Experience!

TeacherMate is the brainchild of Seth Weinberger, a technology lawyer. It is a handheld computer designed for use in schools and focuses on helping children in kindergarten through 2^nd Grade learn through reading, writing and math lessons. The device costs $100 and is much smaller than Nintendo DS.

Weinberger’s mission is to improve the teaching practices at existing schools for kids. “He sees technology as a liberating force. Why does education need to be so structured? What are we afraid of? The more you expect from a kid, the smarter they are going to get.”

The challenge will be adoption – Weinberger is challenging the way we traditionally learn. He sees a new role for teachers – from the communicator of information to a mentor or coach.
